The Data Protection Act 1998 places a legal responsibility on the School to ensure that all data collected, processed and held is awarded the highest level of protection. The Act also provides individuals, who are subject to personal data, an assurance that data held is accurate and up to date.
All parents, and other users, have the right to make a Subject Access request to find out what information is held on them or their child. Any person who wishes to exercise this right should complete the Subject Access Request Form and submit to the Designated Data Controller.
A statutory fee of £10 will apply to all requests. Durham County Council aims to comply with requests for access to personal information as quickly as possible, but will ensure that it is provided within 40 days, as stipulated by the 1998 Act.
